What can make my settlement date change?
There are numerous factors that can impact a settlement date including construction scheduling, delays and weather. We make every effort to incorporate allowances for delays in our project schedules however the one area that typically causes the most delays is weather. Aside from weather, other items that can impact settlement include changes or delays in selections, missing mortgage commitment deadlines, or last minute changes to mortgage financing, all of which can impact settlements. That is why it is vitally important that you keep in constant communication with your mortgage lender to ensure that they have all of the information and documentation that they need from you as your settlement date approaches.
What if I want to add options after I have signed the contract?
You can add options at your selections meeting and even once construction has started in some cases. However, once construction has started, some options are not available and some increase in cost depending on the stage of the construction. As a general rule, the earlier you add options the better.
